  1. Students are definately 21st century learners. They come to school with an entirely different background than any teacher. If we truly want to engage them and develop the internal motivation to learn, we teachers need to access their modalities of learning. They are plugged into technology much more than we were or are presently. Just in my limited experience with blogging and tools exploration, I observed a strong engagement from all my students. None of them balked at lenghty writing on the blog. Whereas, if I asked them to respond on paper, I would have received minimal effort and engagement. If we as teachers truly believe in the concept of "life long learners", we must step out of our comfort zone and "learn" how to utilize the technology that is out there at our disposal.
